About starting late…

I retired at age 60 and took up running shortly after that. I may have started pretty late in life, but at least I started! It’s great having ample time to schedule my training runs, and even wait for the sun to warm the cooler days or wait out a rain shower. Mostly, though, having time has allowed me to gradually increase the length of my runs, and I find I like running longer distances.

So I’ve begun a new journey with no clear destination other than getting some exercise and maintaining my health. Those are worthy goals, of course, but I initially had no specific running goals in mind — pace, distance, events, etc. Since then my goals have evolved, but on the whole I’m just taking it as it comes, and I’ll see where I get. Along the way, I’ll ruminate here…
