Starting Late

… but finishing with a smile

Run Down South

My streak with shorts is intact, but I admit to cheating. I made it through the beginning of the week, then headed south to Florida to visit friends. I did my long run today in their community — 13.1 miles covering all the streets including all the cul-de-sacs:

Rosedale Run

The weather was ideal — sunny, breezy, and in the balmy 60s. Very pleasant. It was a very nice run. I was originally planning to run 12 miles, but I felt good at the end and decided to tack on an extra mile to make it a half marathon distance. And I thought to myself — OK, in two years I’ll be down in Florida doing a half marathon one day and still be facing a full marathon the next day (planning to run the Goofy). I can do this I think!.

Here’s the week in review:

Mon — 5.06 miles — 9:55 pace, felt really strong; strength circuit at the YMCA

Tues — 6.22 miles — 11:07 pace, slow and easy

Wed — 5.06 miles — 10:55 pace, felt a little stiff and slow

Fri — 13.1 miles — 10:40 pace, a very comfortable run throughout

I also want to do the Goofy. I plan on running the Disney marathon next year, but I have done the half 6 times before. It’s a ton of fun!
